Sensei Anna Engwell
Sensei Anna Engwell, 2nd Dan, began her Karate journey aged 42. Her son (Elliot) had started a year before and when her husband (Gerry) found out about an adult’s class they both picked it up. Although she was reluctant at first, she soon had a change of heart.

Sensei Anna became interested in sports when she was just 3 years old and started learning ballet. She reached the grade of Intermediate II and participated in dance shows in London with the Society of Russian Style Ballet. She started teaching ballet but stopped to devote more time to her studies.
Sensei Anna went to 3 universities: she studied Applied Environmental Science with Psychology at Middlesex University, took a Post Graduate Diploma in Analytical Instrumentation at University of Bedfordshire and obtained a Post Graduate Certificate of Education at Anglia Ruskin University to become a science teacher. Anna has been a Science and Psychology teacher for over 22 years.
Written on Anna's belt is “Determination is the key”. When she was preparing for 1st Dan, everyone spoke about her determination. If you want something in life badly enough, you will find a way to achieve it.
